The British Film Institute: On set!

What is the BFI and what was my role in a film?

On Saturday the 14th of January I had the amazing opportunity to go filming with the British Film Institute (BFI) as an extra for a local film production company. Their short film, The Masked Order, was filmed on location around Lincolnshire and I was a prisoner held captive in the near future under the rule of a dictator. To me this was very exciting as I had never filmed with the BFI before, in this article you will find out about the BFI.

The British Film Institute is essentially British cinema. The BFI also supports young people who want to break into the film industry and develop skills on filming and building a career. The BFI Film Academy programme here in Lincolnshire focuses on 16-19 year olds and offers a free course every year from November to January to have masterclasses with professionals from the film industry and produce their own film which will be shown in cinemas in London and Lincoln.

To find out more head to their website (Learning and training | BFI), next, go to Learning & Training, and now select either Short Courses (Which will give you a basic understanding of filming) or specialist courses (which will give you a more detailed understanding of Craft skills, Documentaries, Stop motion Animation, Art, VFX & Audience Development, depending on what you want to do).
